Kaleb Martin, LPCC
Kaleb Martin is a licensed professional counselor candidate who employs a person-centered approach. He works with individuals, couples, and families through an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework, helping his clients to effectuate meaningful change through identity exploration and building personal awareness.
After graduating with his bachelor’s, he was commissioned into the Marine Corps. Despite his intention to have a military career, God had other plans. Kaleb separated early due to suffering with mental health, which led him to recognize his calling of helping those who similarly struggle. He graduated from The Citadel Graduate College with a master’s degree in psychology: clinical counseling to pursue this passion. In recognition of God’s profound movement in his life, Kaleb expresses gratitude for being called into this profession after suffering with mental health firsthand. It is this personal experience which elevates his work with clients.
Kaleb, as a counselor, has helped clients suffering with varying anxieties, trauma, depression, suicidal ideation, relationship concerns, life events, social skills, and more. In all, he recognizes identity struggle as an enduring component. In a world where so many voices are shouting at us, it is difficult to recognize our own. Kaleb aids clients in reclaiming their voice by bringing objective standards, through the identification and implementation of values, to subjective experiences. In addition, he works with clients to garner self-awareness and build relevant skills, taking them off the sidelines of their lives and putting them back in charge. As a last major component, he assists clients in fostering and enacting effective communication, allowing them to build and maintain meaningful relationships. While Kaleb recognizes that this is hard work, he encourages clients to consider if living in their current struggles is any easier. Ultimately, Kaleb’s clients work to rebuild their relationship with themselves, anchoring their identity in their inherent value, and live authentically.
